A member in good standing:

Ascribes to the USPC pledge as follows:

The Pony Club Pledge

As a member of the United States Pony Clubs, I stand for the best in sportsmanship as well as in horsemanship. I shall compete for the enjoyment of the game well played and take winning or losing in stride, remembering that without good manners and good temper, sport loses its cause for being. I shall endeavor to maintain the best tradition of the ancient and noble skill of horsemanship, always treating my horse with consideration due a partner.

III. Ratings Policies

Ratings are held at Radnor Hunt Pony Club each Spring and Fall for D1-C2.

Procedure for Attempting a Rating Exam:

1. Together with a parent, a member must ask permission from the current D.C. to attempt a rating.

2. The current rating coordinator will arrange for examiners and set up the rating session for the candidates. The coordinator will notify members of times and schedules.

Requirements:

1. a member must be a member in good standing with RHPC

2. Have permission from the DC.

3. Be fully prepared for the particular rating including having a flow chart signoff on by someone other than their parent or regular instructor.

New Members:

1. Young inexperienced members begin "unrated" and may take a D-1 rating exam as ready.

2. An older, more experienced rider may be capable of passing several rating levels at a time at the first testing. However, USPC strongly advises the first rating not exceed D-3 because the candidate needs to gain Pony Club experience before moving on. RHPC has adopted this policy

IV – Rally Policies

Requirements for Rally Participation

1. A member must be a member in Good Standing with RHPC

2. A member is expected to attend all practices. If you cannot attend at least two practices, you will not be able to participate in the rally. Allowances will be made for members away in college.

3. Parents are expected to be available to help before, during and after the rally.

4. For overnight rallies, including championships, at least one parent for each pony clubber is required to be present during the rally. The only exception to this rule is for pony clubbers of 18 years of age or older.

V- Mounted Meeting Policies

  • Mounted meetings try to give consistent mounted instruction in a peer group setting based on the age and rating level of the pony clubber.
  • Mounted meetings are intended to supplement the rider's regular instruction program. Pony clubbers should be riding regularly with their own instructors in addition to mounted meetings.
  • Remember, reservations are required. General questions about Mounted Meetings should be made to the mounted meeting coordinator.
  • Dress should be workman like and appropriate. Proper footwear and helmets are required. Any organizer or instructor who feels that a pony clubber is not appropriately dressed may ask the member to leave that lesson.
  • A USPC armband MUST be worn during any mounted meeting or when working around horses.

VI- Un-Mounted Meetings

  • Un-Mounted meetings are educational meeting which give consistent horse management and knowledge instruction in a peer group setting based on the age and rating level of the pony clubber.
  • Un- Mounted meetings are intended to supplement the rider's regular study of horse care and management. Pony clubbers are also expected to study on their own in preparation for ratings and rallies.
  • Dress for un-mounted meeting should be appropriate for the meeting setting and weather. Proper footwear is required when working around horses.
  • A USPC armband MUST be worn during any mounted meeting or when working around horses.
